The 2018 EEO-1 Report deadline is coming up soon! As of the posting of this article, the deadline for EEO-1 reporting is Friday, May 31, 2019. But what exactly is the EEO-1 Report, and who needs to fill it out?
What is the EEO-1 Report?
The EEO-1 Report is a federal compliance survey that requires company employment data to be collected and categorized by race/ethnicity, gender and job category. Data collected from the reports is strictly confidential and is used by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to compile information about their women and minority workforce. That data is used to analyze employment patterns and help enforce civil rights laws.
Does my company need to file an EEO-1 Report?
According to the Society of Human Resource Management, “All employers that are located in the 50 states and the District of Columbia and have at least 100 employees are required to file EEO-1 survey annually with the EEOC. Federal government contractors and first-tier subcontractors with 50 or more employees and at least $50,000 in contracts must file as well.”
If you are still confused about whether or not your company needs to file an EEO-1 Report, simply ask yourself the following 3 questions:
- Does my company have 100 or more employees?
- If my company has less than 100 employees, is it owned or corporately affiliated with another company, making our combined workforce 100 or more employees?
- Is my company a federal contractor (or 1st tier sub-contractor) with 50 or more employees AND with a federal contract worth $50,000 or more?
